It was in the
year 1974 when Raju “DJ Raju” Singh was born
a local of Newroad, Kathmandu Nepal. He had been educated
in Ananda Kuti School in his early age. Fond on surfing
with the internet, tennis, art, golf and music . Got involved
into rock music back in 1987, he started hittin’
the drums for a band called "WRATHCHILD”. They
did gigs all around Nepal like on the Police club, Exhibition
hall, Pokhara and lots of hotels to name few. Other band
members had to go abroad, so then he concentrated on studies
and managed to complete Bachelors Degree in Commerce.
Few years later, after he had returned from Germany, once
again “Wrathchild” was reborn. They opened
up a Bar & Restaurant in 1992 called “Graffiti”
at Teku, where they played their music and also have other
bands to perform.
It was quite a nice place to
hang around and meet people from all walks of life. Unfortunately
as the saying goes" what goes up must come down"
they had to close Graffiti in 1996. Then he had nothing
to do so he took a six-month vacation to Europe, and it
was there where he got time to check out lots of nightclub
from Berlin to Amsterdam to Ibiza and practice his german
language as well. It struck into his mind that to make
people dance to your tune was really a cool thing, so
he decided once he goes back to Kathmandu, he would like
to do something like that.
Then the opportunity came by, he was
looking out for a chance to get into a club to do some
Dj’ing, Luckily he met some of his old friends who
knew the owners of Jolly Blues then he got in. He has
been working as a regular Disc Jock at Club Dynasty from
1997 to 2004. He also got the chance to travel and work
in clubs like Konnection and Farout both in Germany, Mirage
(Surya Hotel, Delhi, Inidia) also at Big Ben (Calcutta,
India) and also few clubs in Hongkong such as Manhatten,
Jo Banana, Viceroy and Laguna. It was there where he got
started off then. Lucky guy may we say ‘coz he got
all the chance to see beautiful girls from Nepal as he
did the choreograph music for Miss Nepal from 1999 to
present. 2001 was the best year, it was the year when
he got 1st Prize award for Nepal’s Annual DJ Competition
(War of the DJs). Currently, he is working as a Disc Jockey
in Hyatt Regency (ROX) and the rest is history…
