An interaction and experience sharing program on journalism was held at the Office of the Press Registrar in Pokhara, featuring a visiting delegation of journalists from the District Press Club, Sonipat, Haryana, India.
Welcoming the Indian media fraternity to Gandaki Province, Abha Shrestha Karna, Chief Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Gandaki Province, expressed her gratitude for hosting representatives of the fourth estate. Recalling her personal connection to Haryana, where she completed her Master of Business Administration MBA, Chief Secretary Karna presented tokens of love to the delegates. She noted that such exchange visits play a crucial role in bolstering journalism, addressing shared social concerns, and deepening human ties between Nepal and India.


During the program, Prabhakar Ghimire, Under Secretary at the Office of the Press Registrar, honored the visiting delegation with traditional silk scarves khada. Journalist Suresh Ranabhat briefed the Indian journalists on the current challenges and landscape of journalism in Gandaki Province, as well as the establishment, key responsibilities, and ongoing initiatives of the Press Registrar’s Office.
Cross Border Exchange: An interactive session between Indian journalists from the Sonipat District Press Club and Nepalese officials highlights the role of media exchanges in strengthening bilateral, social, and human connections. Delegates emphasize constructive journalism and address shared media challenges across borders.
Sharing their perspectives, key office bearers of the District Press Club, Sonipat including President Rajesh Kumar Khatri, Founding President Pawan Bansal, General Secretary Sukhbeer Saini, and Treasurer Shyam Sundar Vashisht discussed their professional experiences in the field.
Furthermore, visiting Indian media professionals Anil Khatri Gohana, Arun Duhan Katwal, Sanjeev Ghanghas, Sunil Kumar Kharkhoda, Jasbeer Singh Khatri, Shyam Sundar Sharma, Kuldeep Singh, along with Club Vice President Ravindra Verma, highlighted that the interactive session effectively conveyed a message of constructive and positive journalism across borders.
In addition to the Pokhara event, General Secretary Sukhbeer Saini informed that Press Registrar Bimala Bhandari was honored at a separate program organized by the club in Kathmandu. In Pokhara, the Sonipat Press Club felicitated 11 prominent personalities from Gandaki Province for their outstanding contributions to journalism, literature, and social services.
