“0 Plastic” Campaign By ASEZ Behind PN Campus

Pokhara,

On May 14, the youth volunteer group ASEZ carried out a powerful “0 Plastic” campaign in the natural area behind Prithvi Narayan (PN) Campus, Pokhara. Despite the area’s scenic beauty, it was heavily polluted with plastic waste — a reality the campaign aimed to change. The event began with an awareness rally from Srijana Chowk (Savagriha Chowk) to the PN Campus, as dozens of energetic youths marched with placards promoting sustainability and reducing plastic use.

The volunteers shared their disappointment in seeing so much waste in a place meant for peace and learning, stressing that “even natural places are not safe from plastic pollution.” Throughout the cleanup, the volunteers collected over 25 large bags of plastic waste and other trash, including bottles, wrappers, and disposable cups. Their efforts brought immediate visual improvement to the area and left a strong message about the impact of single-use plastics.

The Principal of PN Campus also expressed support, saying, “This initiative by the young generation is truly commendable. They are setting an example for our entire community to care for nature. We fully support ASEZ and hope such efforts continue.”

ASEZ is an international group of university students devoted to volunteer service and global change. Alongside the cleanup, the team also conducted environmental research to better understand the source and impact of plastic pollution in such areas. This “0 Plastic” campaign was not just a cleanup — it was a call for lasting environmental awareness and change, driven by the power and unity of young people.
